Turtle - Extra Large - Adult - Male - Reptile - Panzer
Description
Panzer is an appx 12 year old male African Spur Thigh Sulcata. He has very mild pyramiding from his former home. He's been on an excellent diet of fresh grass and leaves, supplemented with Mazuri Tortoises diet in the winter months for the last couple years. He's showing gorgeous shell growth now. Panz is just coming to realize that people mean good things, like the occasional fruit or veggie snack once a month. With time we can see him being as social as Sherm. He does well with tortoises of all species, including his own. He's currently in with a large female and a small sulcata that we also think is male, and he has no problem at all with them. He eats very well and is about 18 inches SCL. He can only be adopted to a home in a state that does not ban the ownership of torts. If your state requires you have a permit to keep him, you must provide proof of that permit prior to adoption. You must also provide knowledge of the species and their care and have an area set up that will keep him properly housed so that he can't escape. If you live north of Florida, Texas, Arizona, etc you must show proof of the indoor winter enclosure. This species will easily exceed 100 pounds and possibly get to be over 200 pounds. They can get to a couple feet in length as adults and have dug burrows over 15 feet deep and more than 30 feet in length. A single sulcata can take down a privacy fence or destroy a home's foundation on their own. This is not a beginner species of tortoise. Adoption fee for Panzer is $150. We will arrange transport for him at an additional cost for fuel alone to any state in the southeastern US that allows you to legally own this species. If you are outside that area you will need to make transportation arrangements on your own. WE WILL NOT SHIP HIM. Again, because ownership of turtles and tortoises varies by state, please check with your wildlife agency before requesting an adoption application.
